History of STAR
A consolidation of Stark County Association of REALTORS® (SCAR est 1909) and the Warren Area Board of REALTORS® (WABOR est 1917). Stark Trumbull Area REALTORS (STAR est 2020) now spans 3 Counties and is over 1,400 Members Strong.
The history of the Stark Trumbull Area REALTORS® dates back to 1916 when the Canton Real Estate Board was chartered by the Board of Directors. Over the years, the Board of Directors charted additional Real Estate Boards in Massillon, Warren, and Alliance. The jurisdiction of the Canton and Massillon Real Estate Boards underwent a change in 1951. In 1960, the Alliance Real Estate Board changed its name to Alliance Area Board of REALTORS®. The Warren Real Estate Board changed its name to Warren Area Board of REALTORS® in 1962. The Canton and Massillon Real Estate Boards changed their names to Canton Board of REALTORS® and Massillon Board of REALTORS® in 1964 and 1965, respectively. There were also several changes in jurisdiction for the Alliance and Warren Area Boards of REALTORS®. In 1977, the Canton Board of REALTORS® and the Massillon Board of REALTORS® merged to form the Canton-Massillon Board of REALTORS®, and in 1991, the Canton-Massillon Board of REALTORS® merged with the Alliance Area Board of REALTORS® to form the Stark County Association of REALTORS®. The association recently merged with the Warren Area Board of REALTORS® in 2020 and changed its name to the Stark Trumbull Area REALTORS® in 2021, as approved by the National Association of REALTORS®.
