Stark Trumbull Area REALTORS® (STAR) was awarded a $7,500 grant from the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) Placemaking Program to support activities that create public outdoor gathering places. The grant was used to install a Pollinator Community Garden at Veterans Park in Plain Township. “REALTORS® build communities and work hard to make the American Dream a reality for millions of Americans each year,” said Collene Burgess, CEO of STAR. “This grant will help our community have a nicer place to live, work, and play. Because of the Placemaking Grant, our residents and visitors will be able to enjoy our community to the fullest.”
This installation was a joint effort between STAR, Ohio REALTORS®, and the Ohio REALTOR® Leadership Academy 2023 Project Group. Their combined efforts transformed an open space at Veterans Park into a stunning oasis with the installation of a vibrant pollinator garden. The Monarch Watch program at the Ohio State Extension Offices and the dedicated Veterans Park Maintenance staff will oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the garden.
Nationwide, NAR offers Placemaking Grants to various state and local Realtor® Associations in effort to support outdoor public gathering places such as community gardens, dog parks, and playgrounds.
